Tiger Stadium

Tiger Stadium, also known as Navin Field and Briggs Stadium, was the home of the Detroit Tigers from 1912-1999.  It opened on the same day as Fenway Park, Boston.

Aerial shot of Tiger Stadium and downtown Detroit better days.

This was the main entrance at the corner of Michigan Ave and Trumbull Ave.

The notice on the white paper taped top the ticket window says it’s not open.

I was consulting Magic 106.7/Boston sister station Magic 105.1/Detroit and decided to check out the remains of Tiger Stadium.

The hulk that was still standing is pretty depressing. Metropolitan Detroit has some very nice suburbs but downtown is pretty scary. Lots of empty lots with rubble left over from houses and buildings that are long gone. Numerous burnouts. Michigan Avenue nearby is big and wide and has almost no vehicles on it.

Detroit has had somewhat of a comeback. The site of Tiger Stadium is now a brand new four-story condo building.
